Bear-Paw is primarily supported by member contributions and fundraising events. We currently have over 250 members and almost 400 people who have given to Bear-Paw at one time or another. Our contributors are primarily from the geographic area that we serve; however, we have members throughout the eastern United States. In 2005, we raised over $35,000 in private contributions to support our programs. We also collected over $81,000 in grants and municipal funding to support the transaction and acquisition costs associated with land protection projects. Each year, Bear-Paw files a tax return with the Internal Revenue Service. Click here to view our 2005 tax return (IRS Form 990).
In 2005, we worked closely with the Towns of Deerfield, Nottingham, and Strafford on a number of projects. Bear-Paw completed three conservation easements protecting almost 300 acres in Deerfield and Nottingham - all three were the direct result of collaborative efforts with the landowners and Deerfield and/or Nottingham. The towns contributed over $235,000 and Bear-Paw contributed $55,000 in grants to those projects. Bear-Paw also contracted with the Town of Strafford on a landowner outreach project.
In 2005, we held ten educational workshops and fieldtrips with over 300 participants. We distributed two newsletters to over 1,300 people. Click here to view our here to view our Newsletters. We also held two fundraising/outreach events with almost 200 in attendance and we contacted over 2,000 potential members in two of our member towns with direct mail membership campaigns. All of these efforts were well-received. Click here to view our 2005 Annual Report.
Details for 2006 will be available soon.
